Biobank.ro

A new digital biobank in Eastern Europe – first of its kind

Romania’s first private biobank, built on a federated data network and a privacy-by-design architecture, empowering fast, collaborative research with a primary focus on rare and autoimmune diseases.

Biobank.ro is being established through the joint efforts of Egnosis, as project leader and technological partner, and Pro-Vitam, as clinical and research partner.

What we will provide:

  • Collection, storage, and research access to high-quality biological samples
  • Longitudinal datasets with patient follow-up, supporting advanced research
  • Rare and autoimmune disease focus and potential for broader medical domains
  • Federated architecture enabling secure, privacy-preserving collaboration
  • Full compliance with GDPR, AI Act, and international ethical standards

We bring together scientists, clinicians and technology innovators to establish a novel biobank that supports research, advances AI-driven healthcare, and fosters international collaboration while building a multi-node distributed database. With the esteemed support of renowned researchers and collaborative networks developed through recent international projects, Biobank.ro is founded on a strong base to ensure early success and long-term impact.

As a new member of the emerging European biobank ecosystem, we are open to partnerships with EU research consortia. Visit the Biobank.ro official website to connect and express your interest in collaborating with us and shaping the future of Biobank.ro!
